When looking at first at this artist’s work, some of her pieces look, at first, as if they were piles of stuff without any form or planning. However when looking at these works up close one can see how organized and balanced these pieces really are. The works are wonderful compositions that use repetition throughout the whole piece. The artist uses many materials in each composition, and each one of those materials has a specific place in the compositions as well.

This is very different from the pieces of the last post, where the artists worked with a single material. Sarah Sze uses many, many different materials to create her extra-large pieces. Her work is a great example of using many materials and going crazy without looking like something exploded and just happened. In the detailed pictures of her work, it is obvious that it is neatly, and meticulously made, but still retains the excitement of a chaos of materials. The chaos of materials is put together in a very neat and ordered way, which creates an interesting contrast between the composition and the materials.

I think Sarah Sze’s work is what the inside of a child’s imagination looks. It it so fantasy like and can be looked at from afar and up close, which is always great for any piece. Attachment is also huge in this piece and would be nothing without it! I’m just picturing how it would look with globs of hot glue all over it and my image is yucky!
